What should I do if I want to request time off for a child?
Request for leave
If you need to take your child out of school for any reason you need to collect a form from the office.
You return this form to the school office as soon as possible.
We will write to you as soon as the request has been processed.
Please do not assume this request will be granted.
Government guidance on this matter is below…
“Amendments to the regulations remove reference to family holiday and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days. The amendments make it clear that Headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances”
We do not grant leave if:
* A child’s attendance record over the previous 20 week period is less than 95% (school average) - even if any previous absence was due to unavoidable causes such as illness;
* The period of leave coincides with the start of term, or is near to (or coincides with) school tests, SAT’s, exams or other significant events in the school calendar.
When leave is granted, it will normally be for one period ONLY in any one school year.
