Year 6

Welcome to Year 6

Year 6 is an important year for our pupils. It is the transitional year from Primary to Secondary school and their last year with us at Roding. During Year 6, we have a strong focus on the core subjects of Reading, Writing and Maths and these are embedded within the rich and varied year group curriculum. Year 6 also provides our pupils with many opportunities for personal growth in preparation for the next steps in their educational journey.

SATS – All you need to know

At Roding Primary, we believe that children should have a love of learning across all subjects in and out of school. National tests are a measure of learning at a particular point in time – our learning in school goes on beyond these to the very last week of term and throughout each child’s life. We strive to encourage children as they undertake the national tests, helping them to achieve their utmost, within a relaxed and supportive environment.

This page provides useful information and helpful hints to help parents and carers in supporting their Year Six child with SATs. Although these tests are in May, the learning will continue throughout Year Six, in preparation for Year Seven and beyond!
