Teaching Geography at Roding
At Roding Primary, we aim to stimulate pupil’s interest and curiosity and develop their knowledge and understanding of the world they live in. We want them to have a secure concept of place and to develop a clear understanding of location and scale. We want them to be able to differentiate between the human and physical features of a locality and to make comparisons. We aim to provide them with the skills and language to communicate geographically. Our curriculum will provide opportunities for children to engage in field work and geographical enquiries and develop their critical thinking. Our aim is to ensure that children gain a deeper understanding of our world, its diversity and our impact on it. We aim to create lifelong learners who can use their geographical knowledge and vocabulary to ask questions, weigh evidence and make comparisons between the localities they have studied.
