The Governors at Roding, play an essential role in raising school standards, through their three core strategic functions:

• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of the school
• Holding the school to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils
• Overseeing the financial management of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Governors fulfil these duties by:

• Visiting the school on a regular basis;
• Attending Governor Board meetings that take place once per term;
• Attending committee meetings that take place once per term
• Asking questions and considering documents prepared by the school;
• Challenging the Headteacher in a constructive way;
• Developing and supporting the values of the school.

The Governing Body is made up of 3 Parent Governors. 1 LA Governor, 1 Staff Governor, 1 Headteacher, 6 Co-opted Governors and 2 Associate Governors with voting rights. The term of office of all categories is three years. This instrument was made by order of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Local Authority on 23 October 2020.
