Children at Roding Primary School took the opportunity to learn and celebrate Autism Acceptance Week.  This national event aims to bring understanding to the 700,000 people who have autism in the UK, whilst providing help and services.  With the theme for this year being the Spectrum Colour Challenge, children enjoyed School News

As part of the Harbour children’s learning for the topic ‘We are going shopping,’ they visited some local shops to find out which type of products were available at the shop.  They then used money to pay the shopkeeper, as well as using their polite manners to say ‘please’ and School News

This week, the children at Roding Primary School were visited by the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham’s Accident Prevention Officer for a talk about road safety. Children were reminded about crossing roads safely, as well as wearing helmets when using bicycles, scooters or skateboards. Children were also told that School News

On Friday 3rd March we all celebrated World Book Day. In class we did lots of fun activities linked to reading and we came in dressed as various different book characters. We held special assemblies so that we could see everyone in their amazing outfits. Thank you all ( and School News

This week Year Two had a special visitor – Florence Nightingale! This was part of their history work on famous people. As you can see, all the children had a fabulous time learning about her life and work.  They all throroughly enjoyed the experience, with some of them reporting that School News

At Roding Primary School, we are celebrating International Women’s Day with each year group carrying out learning based on an inspirational woman who has bought positive change to the world.  The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is Embrace Equity, and our children have enjoyed doing the action whilst School News

We are thrilled to announce that four of our Year 6 children are to have their original short stories published  in the forthcoming book A Twist in the Tale – Fabulous Adventures.  The children took part in an after-school creative writing club, and their work was chosen by the Young School News

Year 6 children enjoyed their visit to the Imperial War Museum. The trip tied in with the children’s learning about World War 2 and allowed the children to see examples of primary sources and other artefacts related to the war. It was also an opportunity for our children to recognise School News

During summer term 2022, the most talented athletes from years 3-6 took part in Quad Kids Athletics at Jim Peters’ stadium. They competed against hundreds of children from other schools in the borough and had the most fantastic day.  They did Roding proud, and we are excited to be taking School News

On Thursday 19th January the Year Two Hewett classes went to the Tate Britain museum as part of their Literacy topic. They enjoyed exploring and appreciating the work of art on display and were able to relate to our character of ” Claude” who also goes on an adventure to an School News

At Roding Primary School, we have commemorated Holocaust Memorial Day by holding assemblies across both sites which have explained to our children in an age-appropriate manner what the holocaust was as well as the impact that it had. In year 6, our children have been using the book ‘Rose Blanche’ School News

At Roding Primary School, we value all opportunities for our children to embrace and enjoy their reading. Each half term, our school libraries have an author focus which allows the children to share books by a particular author and to be aware of the many fantastic children’s writers who create School News

Children and staff at Roding Primary School enjoyed the World Religion and Heritage Day last Friday. It was a great opportunity for our children to share their beliefs, background and what is important to them. It also highlights the wonderful diversity which we have within our school and local community. School News

We would like to thank Michael Tucker, a former student at Roding Primary School, for coming back to visit and speak to the children.  Michael has spoken during assemblies at both sites, and told the children all about his journey at Roding and how that prepared him to succeed at School News

Children at Roding primary School were invited to take part in a special competition from the London Boroughs of Barking & Dagenham and Havering to create a poster which promotes anti-racism and inclusion across the boroughs.  Our children enjoyed using our school’s value of being creative for their posters which School News

Children and staff at Roding Primary School enjoyed showing their support to anti-racism by taking part in Show Racism the Red Card Day.  This is now our school’s third year in which children and staff are invited to wear red and make a donation to The Red Card Organisation – School News
